The researcher behind SepiaLog
Dr. Ivan Đurić is a Senior Researcher and the creator of SepiaLog. The product began with a recurring problem: research data changes continuously, but the intent behind those changes is rarely preserved in the same place as the files.
Cleaning decisions, exclusions, revised variables, dataset branches and next steps are often distributed across notebooks, filenames, email and memory. When results must be regenerated or data prepared for publication, that missing connection becomes expensive.
SepiaLog turns a small daily habit—a concise note about what changed and why—into connected project history and reusable documentation.

Product principles
- Researcher control: projects and research files remain under the researcher’s control.
- Local-first design: the application runs on the user’s computer and does not silently upload research files.
- Traceable assistance: summaries and AI answers should point back to the notes and project records that support them.
- Honest limitations: automated checks support judgment; they do not replace methodological, ethical, legal or institutional review.
- Documentation through work: archive-ready outputs should be built from information preserved during the project rather than reconstructed at its end.
How SepiaLog Insights is produced
SepiaLog Insights publishes practical articles about research continuity, data privacy, provenance, metadata, FAIR practice and responsible delivery. The articles are written for researchers first: each page should answer a real workflow question, distinguish product behavior from general guidance and state important limitations.
Where an article makes factual or standards-related claims, the preferred references are primary sources such as official guidance, standards documentation and original research resources. Substantial updates receive a visible modification date.
Editorial images and application screens
Some editorial photographs are AI-generated illustrations of realistic research situations. They are used to make long-form reading more engaging, not as evidence that a photographed individual endorses or uses SepiaLog.
Whenever a page presents a screen as the SepiaLog application, the interface is a genuine SepiaLog capture. Generated interfaces and unreadable mock screens are not presented as product proof. Image descriptions are written to explain the meaningful content rather than repeat decorative details.
